MSX index ends stable

Muscat: The MSX index closing remained stable at 4,216.82 points, from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.51 per cent at 514.60 points.

OIFC Bond, up 5.88 per cent was the top gainer while Oman & Emirates Holding down 8.06 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Sohar International Bank were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Ooredoo were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 648 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.98 million, with more than 16.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 51 traded securities, 16 advanced, 14 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, Domestic investors were net sellers for OMR663,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR627,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR36,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,724.2 points, down by 0.16 per cent. Prices of Bank Muscat, Taageer Finance, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Nizwa, and Al Omaniya Financial Services were up by 1.55 per cent, 1.28 per cent, 1.06 per cent, 1.01 per cent, and 0.76 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman & Emirates Investment, Al Anwar Investment, Muscat Insurance, National Bank Oman, and Sohar International Bank were down by 8.07 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 2.13 per cent, 1.87 per cent, and 1.72 per cent respectively.                       

                                   
Industrial Index closed at 5,955.97 points, down by 0.08 per cent. Prices of Construction Materials, National Aluminium, Al Maha Ceramics, A'Saffa Foods, and Oman Cables Industry were up by 4.65 per cent, 4.63 per cent, 0.91 per cent, 0.63 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Galfar Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramics, Jazeera Steel Products, Oman Ceramics, and Gulf Stones were down by 1.32 per cent, 0.89 per cent, 0.49 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.          

                                                                                             
Services Index was up by 0.08 per cent before closing at 1652.78 points. Prices of Oman National Engineering, Al Jazeera Services, National Gas, Ooredoo, and Oman Telecom were up by 3.96 per cent, 1.21 per cent, 0.79 per cent, 0.54 per cent, and 0.52 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Suwadi Power, Al Batinah Power, Muscat Gases, Dhofar Generating, and Al Batinah Hotels were down by 2.04 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.83 per cent, 1.49 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.
