Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman ranked first among the top three markets in the Middle East in recalling cars through the results of car recalls in the Middle East, where the target achievement rate reached 101.8 per cent, while the percentage in the markets that have the following positions were 86.4 per cent, and 84.6 per cent respectively.
This achievement is a clear demonstration of the great efforts of the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) in the field of traffic safety and its keenness to carry out continuous reviews of all products and services offered in the Sultanate’s markets.
The Public Authority for Consumer Protection has recalled more than 700,000 vehicles from 2013 to February 22nd, 2018, and launched a website for recalls and warnings to provide more services to the consumer and provide solutions to reduce traffic accidents and ensure the safety of consumers, in addition to issuing a booklet Recalls in two editions, which deals with all recalls for cars, vehicles and tires, in cooperation between PACP and the car agencies and concerned government agencies in this field. These efforts come as the recalls play an important role in keeping consumers safe from potential hazards due to technical faults in their vehicles, which in turn will reduce the rate of accidents caused by vehicle malfunction.
The recall is due to of malfunctions in the vehicles, which may result in the presence of a defect in the machinery and thus may expose its users to damage that could be serious.
