Muscat: Oman will witness heavy rainfall in the northern governorates in the coming hours, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in a warning.
CAA stated in its statement that the heavy rains will be between 2 pm and 7 pm and, urged everyone to take precautions during thunderstorms by not crossing valleys, avoiding low places, and not going to the sea.
CAA added: "Abundance of thunderstorms likely to fall (25mml to 50mml), which are accompanied by active to very fast downward winds (30- 45 knots), hails, the flow of wadis and low horizontal visibility over parts of Governorates of Muscat, Al Batinah south and north, Al Sharqiya South and north, Al Buraimi and Al Dhahirah in the coming hours. "
Hajar Mountains and their surrounding areas could also witness rain of varying intensity accompanied by strong winds and falling hail.
A statement issued online by Oman Meteorology said, “Clouds on the Hajar Mountains and their surrounding areas and on the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman.”
