Muscat: The Supreme Committee in charge of dealing with the pandemic will meet on Thursday to decide on the future course of action for preventing the spread of the pandemic in Oman.
On Tuesday, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, indicated in an interview to Oman TV that the committee might consider a review of current restrictions in place. "There is moderation in decision-making. We are aware of the economic and social consequences," Dr. Al Saidi said.
He pointed out that gatherings were seen as the main means of transmission of Covid-19. "The best treatment is prevention since it is very difficult to produce a medicine for Covid-19," he said.
Speaking about the ban on international travellers entering the Sultanate, he said, "Each country has specific criteria for being selected for a travel ban. Travellers from more than 30 countries are restricted from entering Oman. But many other countries have been removed from the list."
