But there is an easy form of stress reduction that is as simple as opening your front door.Spending time outside can help improve your physical and mental health, and you don't have to be an extreme athlete to reap the benefits. Studies show that simply going out for a walk in nature can help build strength and endurance, and contribute to feelings of relaxation and resilience. Being active outside has proven benefits for people's minds and bodies. From your own backyards to local parks this weekend it's time to take a walk.

Oman offers an array of options for all those who wish to stay fit, healthy, and happy being close to nature. For those living in Muscat, visit the Old Muscat that is home to some of the biggest tourist attractions in Muscat. The area is worth a walk around especially to visit the National Museum and to take a shot of Al Alam Palace.

You can also walk all the way along the corniche from Muttrah to Old Muscat. Walking along the Corniche, as you feel the sea breeze waft across you and inhale the sharp, salty smells of the ocean, it isn’t uncommon to see both those who live in the country as well as tourists flock to Muttrah Souq.

Muttrah Souq can be a fun-filled experience as you could through the small alleys in the souq where you could find the best of the things ranging from souvenirs to jewellery to clothing and many more. It still has the great souq atmosphere and the smell of frankincense adds to the experience. It’s open in the morning and evening.

You can also try going for a wadi walk from Riyam to Muttrah. A walk on Qurum beach or Qurum Natural Park that is centrally located in Muscat is another option.

Walking in Oman is not just the best way to enjoy the country’s beautiful mountains, but can also be an adventurous fitness activity. It gives your legs a tremendous strength workout and provides major cardiovascular benefits. Walking in the open air where you get to hear the natural sounds of birds chirping, water splashing, and fresh breezes blowing around you, is also good for the mind. It lowers risk of heart diseases, boosts bone density, builds strength in glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, and the muscles in your hips and lower legs, strengthens core and improves blood pressure and blood sugar level.
