Don't fall prey to fraudsters, Indians in Oman told

Muscat: Indians in Oman have been advised not to fall prey to calls made by fraudsters posing as embassy officials demanding money for embassy services.
An advisory from the Indian embassy says that it has come to their notice that there have been instances of fraud calls by some unknown persons posing as an embassy official.
“The callers ask the call recipients to pay money threatening that their applications to correct the wrong date of birth, passport, labour card, visas, immigration process will not be accepted unless they deposit the demanded amount,” the embassy advisory said, while advising all Indians to strictly avoid responding to any such calls.
“Please do not pay any money at the advice of fraudulent callers. Embassy of India does not make such calls. If any Indian citizen receives such calls he/she should immediately inform the Embassy of India Muscat at Tel No. 24684517 or write to [email protected] with all details,” the advisory added.
