Water services restored in all wilayats hit by cyclone Shaheen

Muscat: Water service has been restored in all the affected wilayats of North and South Al Batinah Governorates, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulatoin (APSR) said in an interview with Oman TV.

Dr Mansour bin Talib Al Hinai, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR), said that 100 per cent electricity service was restored in the wilayats of Barka, Saham, Sohar and all the wilayats of the Governorate of Muscat, 92 per cent in the Wilayat of Musannah, 76 per cent in the Wilayat of Al Khaboura, and 22 per cent in the Wilayat of Suwaiq. Water services returned to 100 per cent in the governorates of North and South Al Batinah

"The electricity network has been greatly affected in the Wilayat of Suwaiq, and we are doubling our efforts to restore full service as soon as possible in the Wilayat," the chairman added

Eng Omar bin Hamdan Al-Ismaili, CEO of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), said in an interview with Oman TV: "More than 50 per cent of the telecommunications stations affected by the tropical cyclone Shaheen were restarted, out of about 660 stations affected in the Sultanate, most of them were in the North Al Batinah Governorate."

The CEO of the TRA added that they are working to restore at least 70 per cent of all telecommunications services within 48 hours in the affected wilayats.

Meanwhile, NCEM said in a statement, "96 per cent of fuel filling stations in the governorates of North and South Al Batinah are operating. Work is underway to restore service to the other affected stations."
