MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,011.69 points, up 0.52 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.76 per cent at 561.22 points.

Al Batinah Power was the top gainer, up by 3.92 per cent. While Asaffa Foods, down 9.92 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Dhofar Insurance was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 414 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.7 million, with more than 18.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 48 traded securities, 12 advanced, 15 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR1.1 million while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR1.1 million followed by foreign investors for OMR10,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,338 points, up 0.69 per cent. Prices of HSBC Bank Oman, Sohar International Bank, Al Anwar Investment, Bank Dhofar and Ominvest were up 3.37 per cent, 2.13 per cent, 2.02 per cent, 1.63 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,157.81 points, up 0.05 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Ceramics and Jazeera Steel Product were up 1.43 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. Asaffa Foods, Gulf International Chemical, Oman Chlorine and NAPI were down 9.92 per cent, 9.52 per cent, 8.21 per cent and 3.94 per cent respectively.

Services Index up by 0.01 per cent before closing at 1,674.72 points. Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Oman Oil Marketing and National Gas were up 3.92 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.34 per cent and 0.75 per cent respectively. OIFC, Muscat Gases, Omantel and Al Jazeera Services were down 1.46 per cent, 0.60 per cent, 0.54 per cent and 0.54 per cent respectively.
