Muscat: Students from classes five to 11 in private and public schools will return to in-person education at 100 per cent capacity starting from Sunday, 7 November, the Ministry of Education has confirmed.
The development comes after the ministry issued Ministerial Decision No. 230/2021, and is based on the decision of the Supreme Committee concerning a return to direct education, which was made on 28 October.
The first article of the decision stipulates that students of public and private schools will return to classes starting from November 7, 2021, while implementing the precautionary measures contained in the approved health protocol.
Ahead of the full reopening of schools, a joint inspection team from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education conducted field visits to schools, to make sure they were following proper COVID protection measures.
“The first article stipulates that students of public and private schools will return to classes starting from November 7, 2021, while implementing the precautionary measures contained in the approved health protocol,” said a statement from the Ministry of Health.
The formation of the working group came within the framework of continuous cooperation between MoH and MoE, and is based on the guidance of the Supreme Committee.
“Plans had been made for classes to resume in a phased manner in the weeks to come,” said an official from a school system in Oman. “Schools have been exhorted to comply with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health in order to ensure safety and well-being of the students and the staff, as on-site classes pick up momentum.”
