Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has so far recorded 16 confirmed Covid-19 cases, infected with the omicron variant and 90 more are being examined for confirmation, a senior official said on Monday.

Dr. Saif bin Salim Al Abri, Director General of Disease Surveillance and Control at the Ministry of Health, said at a press conference of the Supreme Committee, “There are 16 confirmed omicron cases and 90 suspected cases. They are currently undergoing genetic sequencing.”

He added that all patients had been vaccinated and that they were in good health. “The cases are very mild. This is reassuring,” he said.
