MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,216.88 points, down 0.88 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 1.39 per cent at 511.97 points.

Al Madina Investment, up 8.89 per cent, was the top gainer while, Dhofar Cattle Feed down 10.00 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Oman National Engineering were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Ominvest Perpetual Sukuk were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 579 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.64 million, with more than 10.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 47 traded securities, 11 advanced, 13 declined and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR38,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR38,000 followed by domestic investors for RO 0.26 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6735.03 points, 0.4 per cent. Prices of Al Madina Investments, Global Financial Investments, Vision Insurance, Sohar International Bank, and Al Sharqia Investment were up by 8.89 per cent, 1.47 per cent, 1.21 per cent, 0.87 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of United Finance, Muscat Finance, Bank Dhofar, Bank Muscat, and Al Anwar Investment were down by 3.33 per cent, 1.7 per cent, 1.55 per cent, 1.15 per cent, and 1.08 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5960.74 points, 0.91 per cent. Prices of Construction Materials, Jazeera Steel Products, Al Maha Ceramics, Oman Cables Industry, and Oman Cement were up by 2.38 per cent, 1.49 per cent, 0.46 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Dhofar Cattle Feed, Oman Flour Mills, National Aluminium, Oman Fisheries, and Oman Ceramics were down by 10 per cent, 9.69 per cent, 4.43 per cent, 3.51 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.

Services Index was by 0.01 per cent before closing at 1651.51 points. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Oman National Engineering, OIFC, Oman Telecom, and National Gas were up by 6.35 per cent, 3.06 per cent, 0.63 per cent, 0.52 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Jazeera Services, Ooredoo, Al Batinah Hotels, United Power - Preferential Shares, and United Power were down by 2.35 per cent, 1.06 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.
