Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, said the existing cooperation between the government and Majlis Al Shura is considered a basic pillar of national action.
Within the context of the Royal attention that His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said accords to the importance of continuing contact between the Council of Ministers and the Council of Oman in support of constructive cooperation to enhance the comprehensive march of development which the government and other state institutions strive to safeguard, a joint meeting was held yesterday by the Council of Ministers and the Majlis Al Shura office.
The meeting was attended by Sayyid Fahd and Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura. Also present were members of the Council of Ministers and the Majlis Al Shura members.
At the outset of the meeting, Sayyid Fahd welcomed the Chairman and members of Shura. Sayyid Fahd underlined the significance of exchanging views and collaborating efforts at this important stage of the blessed Renaissance march.
He commended the valuable efforts of the Majlis Al Shura in studying topics and making proposals and recommendations, to which the government accords its full attention due to their positive impact on implementing plans and programmes aimed at fostering the gains that have been brought about under the wise leadership of His Majesty.
He reviewed the points raised by Majlis about various aspects that facilitate the Majlis’s shouldering its responsibilities. He expressed the Council of Ministers’ appreciation for the efforts exerted by Majlis while conducting studies and offering recommendations. The meeting also touched on issues proposed by the government for activating such joint cooperation in a manner that achieves the desired results.
Meanwhile, the Chairman and members of Majlis Al Shura valued the efforts undertaken by the government to develop all sectors of the state with the prime aim of realising the welfare of citizens and meeting the objectives of comprehensive development which prevails during this prosperous era.
Al Ma’awali said Majlis appreciates the Council of Ministers’ response, through prompt replies. The Majlis also appreciates the ministers’ making their presence at the Majlis and explaining matters which the members seek clarification, he said. He reaffirmed that the Majlis would continue to perform its duties in cooperation with the government towards upgrading all areas that serve the desired goals.
A comprehensive review was made of all issues related to social and economic fields, in addition ways to developing channels of social communication and supporting procedures that the government places on top of priorities for the sake of streamlining services to citizens and speeding up the process of transformation into electronic government.
It was agreed to intensify meetings between parties concerned in both councils with a view to promoting the Majlis mission in the forthcoming period. It was also agreed to formulate joint visions about a variety of issues being discussed.
The members of the Council of Ministers and Majlis discussed many other issues of significance to the development march.
Sayyid Fahd reaffirmed the government’s recognition of the efforts of the Chairman and members of Majlis and their keenness to cooperate with the government.
