Muscat: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrooqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism will participate in the second conference of the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH), scheduled for Monday at the Louvre Museum, Paris under the patronage of President Emmanuel Macron of France.

A number of international and regional leaders, officials and specialised organisations are taking part in the conference, which is aimed to empower sustainability of heritage at conflict areas and for creation of joint international cooperation to face the increasing challenges through initiation of efficient initiatives and programmes to ensure protection of heritage at the targeted areas.

It is worth mentioning that the idea behind foundation of the international alliance for the protection of heritage in conflict areas emerged during the first international conference for endangered heritage held in Abu Dhabi in 2016 with the participation of the member states including the Sultanate of Oman.
