Police thwart smuggling of more than 2,000 packages of khat into Oman

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), has foiled an attempt to smuggle over 2,000 packages of khat by four smugglers.

A statement issued online by ROP said: "Coast Guard police boats in Dhofar Governorate thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2,138 packages of khat, carried out by four foriegners of Arab nationality on board a boat. The legal procedures are being completed against them. "
