AGS Duqm celebrates literature from around the world

During their English, Arabic, Music and Drama classes, the focus of children’s learning has been in the study of Fairy Tales, African Folk Tales, Original Tales, and Arabic literature. Through this range of writing styles, children are able to demonstrate their understanding of how an author uses storytelling to explain the origin of myths and the culture of a society.

This has involved children reading text and unfamiliar words to extend their use of vocabulary and develop the skills to create their own stories. During art classes, children have created decorations for their classroom which reflect the country and origin of the stories they have studied and during Arabic lessons, they have learned to retell these in Arabic.

This cross-curricular learning journey has led the children of AGS to celebrate their learning, reciting literature, recreate theatrical performances, and performing music from around the world.

Mr. Peter, Principal said “as educators, it is our responsibility to provide children with opportunities to express themselves. This event has enabled them to do this through words, language and the performing arts. Demonstrating confidence in their knowledge of writing, speaking, listening, performing and most importantly, the ability to have fun while they learn.”

“The children and teachers of AGS Duqm have grasped this opportunity and worked together to create an amazing program for our parent community to enjoy”
