Muscat: The Food Safety and Quality Centre (FSQC) has warned people that vanilla-flavored ice cream products which are produced in France, with the trademark Haagen-Dazs, are contaminated with ethylene oxide.
"The Food Safety and Quality Centre reported that the vanilla flavored ice cream products, produced in France, with the trademark (Haagen-Dazs), which bears the operational batch numbers (3415581311716 - 3415581101010 - 3415580503518 - 3415581586718) for the validity period from July 6, 2022, to May 21, 2023, were contaminated with ethylene oxide," the Centre said in a statement.
In the interest of the health and safety of the consumer, the Centre would like to confirm that it has taken everything necessary to stop the import of the aforementioned product at the border crossing points, and is currently working to ensure that it is withdrawn from the local markets, in coordination with the concerned authorities and examining other operations.
The Center recommends all consumers to avoid consuming the above specified batch numbers of these products.
