Muscat: More than 463,000 passengers have been travelled through Salalah Airport during the Khareef season 2022, an increase of 46 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
According to the Oman News Agency (ONA), the number of passengers travelling through Salalah Airport in the Dhofar Governorate during Khareef tourist season 2022 reached 463,848 during the period from June 21 till September 21, 2022,an increase of 46 percent compared to the same period last year.
Salim bin Awad Al Yafei, Executive Vice President of Salalah Airport, said : “ The number of flights in the Khareef Dhofar season reached 3,385 incoming and outgoing flights, an increase of about 49 percent compared to the same period last year. August witnessed the highest average number of flights per week by 352 . “
“All GCC countries operated direct flights to Salalah Airport during the Dhofar Khareef season 2022, including Wizz Economy Airlines, Air Arabia and Fly dubai, as well as Gulf Air, Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways, in addition to Flynas and Qatar Airways", Al Yafei added.
Al Yafei confirmed that Salalah Airport witnessed active air traffic by the Oman Air , which operated about 1,372 domestic flights during the Khareef Dhofar season, while SalamAir’s domestic flights reached 648 flights during the period from June 21 to September 21.
Regarding preparations for the upcoming winter season, the Executive Vice President of Salalah Airport indicated that 8 direct flights will be operated per week from Slovakia, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic, starting from next November to early next March..
