Joint meeting discusses steps to implement GCC Common Market

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Finance, took part in the 118th extraordinary meeting of the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee and the joint meeting with the Trade Cooperation Committee, held via video-conferencing.

The meeting discussed the remaining steps towards establishing the customs union in accordance with the set time-frame and implementing the steps needed for the GCC Common Market.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sultan Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance.

During the meeting, the ministers and undersecretaries reviewed economic decisions issued by the GCC Supreme Council in its 43rd session.

The meeting also covered various topics, recommendations and matters related to financial and economic joint cooperation.

Regarding the joint meeting with the Trade Cooperation Committee, the ministers and undersecretaries touched on economic decisions issued by the ministerial council in its 154th session. It was attended by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

Moreover, the ministers and undersecretaries underscored the importance of integrative coordination and boosting the role of committees in implementing decisions.
