Seven arrested for smuggling narcotics, stealing

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested two individuals accused of smuggling narcotic substances in North Al Batinah. Additionally, five people were arrested after attempting to steal fiber optic cables in Al Dhahirah.

ROP said in a statement: “The Department of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control, led by North Al Batinah Governorate Police and in cooperation with the Coast Guard Police, managed to seize two infiltrators of Asian nationality on charges of smuggling narcotic substances and entering the country illegally on a boat.”

In another incident, the Al Dhahirah Governorate Police Command arrested five people of Asian nationality after they attempted to steal fiber optic cables belonging to a telecommunications company. Legal procedures against them are completed.
