Muscat: An air groove will affect the Sultanate of Oman early next week, leading to a decrease in temperatures, an official from Oman Meteorology said.

A statement issued online by the Oman Meteorology said that there are indications that the weather of the Sultanate of Oman will be affected by a groove from an air depression, starting next week.

An official from the Oman meteorology department confirmed exclusively to the Times of Oman that the Sultanate’s atmosphere will be affected by a groove from the west that extends over the north of the Arabian Peninsula and the Levant."It is likely that most of the governorates of the Sultanate will be affected, starting with Dhofar Governorate in the south of the Sultanate of Oman and extending to the rest of the governorates", he added.

He also stated that the air groove will affect the Sultanate’s skies starting early next week in the form of meteorological depressions.

The meteorology department had earlier said that today’s weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy over most of the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, with chances of low clouds or fog forming at the end of the night and early morning on parts of the coasts of the Sea of Oman and the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar.

“Opportunities for the formation of cumulus clouds on the Hajar Mountains that may lead to scattered thunderstorms and the possibility of dust and dust rising over the desert and open areas in the governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta,” the statement added

The temperature in the Wilayat of Seeb is 26/35 and that of the Wilayat of Salalah is 24/28. The highest expected temperature today is 37 degrees in Sur and Ras Al Hadd and the lowest is 12 degrees in Al Jabal Al Akhdar.
