Added value of enterprises in Oman exceeds OMR9bn

Muscat: The total added value of enterprises by the end of the fourth quarter of 2022 in the Sultanate of Oman amounted to OMR9.23 billion (221,523 enterprises), constituting a growth by 25.2 percent compared to the same period in 2021, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The contribution of active enterprises to the gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices increased by 79.7 percent for the fourth quarter of 2022, compared to 79.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The added value of large enterprises amounted to OMR6.89  billion constituting 59.5 percent during the fourth quarter of 2022, comprising a rise by 27.6 percent compared the corresponding period in the previous year.

Further, the added value of medium enterprises amounted to OMR725 million (6.3 percent) during the fourth quarter of 2022, comprising an increase by 20.7 percent. Meanwhile, the added value of small enterprises reached OMR749.3 million (6.5 percent) during the fourth quarter of 2022, constituting a rise by 16.8 percent.

The added value of micro enterprises reached OMR865.5 million (7.5 percent) during the fourth quarter of 2022, going up by 18.4 percent.

It is worth mentioning that the number of workers in active private enterprises in Oman increased by 16.1 percent to stand 1,688,110 during the fourth quarter of 2022 compared to 1,454,187 during the fourth quarter of 2021.
