Try out this modern take on a classic Indian bharta (mash) recipe.
Ingredients
3-4 medium-size beetroots peeled and boiled and grated
2 medium-size onions, chopped
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
3-4 green chillies, chopped
1 Tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander
2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
Pinch of garam masala
Salt, to taste
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
Preparation
In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil.
Add in the onions and sauté until light brown.
Add the ginger garlic paste and sauté until aromatic .
Adjust the heat to medium and add the beetroot. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes .
Season with salt, cumin, coriander and chilli powders.
Sauté for about a minute and add the garam masala .
Finish off by adding the lemon juice and mixing well. Remove from the heat.
Serve hot, with chapatti.
