Muscat: Various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman may witness thunderstorms today evening, Oman Meteorology said on Sunday.
The governorates expected to be affected by the thunderstorms are South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates and this may extend to coastal areas of the Oman Sea.
Oman Meteorology added that rainfall may range between 10-30 mm and cause poor horizontal visibility, downdraft winds of 20-25 knots, and chances of overflowing valleys.
Authorities urged people to move away from low-lying places, and not to attempt to swim in valleys. They further asked members of the public to keep an eye on children and ensure they stay away from approaching or crossing valleys in the interest of their safety.
