Russian violinist and Turkish pianist to perform at ROHM

Muscat: The Royal Opera House Muscat will present its upcoming concert as part of its 2023-24 Absolute Music Series with talented Russian violinist Elvin Hoxha Ganiyev and Turkish pianist Cem Esen on Monday, 7pm at the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts (free admission).

Elvin Hoxha Ganiyev is an award-winning Russian violinist who has performed with renowned conductors and orchestras in prestigious concert halls and international festivals around the world.

In this Absolute Music recital, Ganiyev will play with acclaimed Turkish pianist Cem Esen, an experienced performer in Europe, including at the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, Sofia Music Festival, and Antalya Piano Festival.

Their partnership is well established with Ganiyev performing alongside Cem Esen on his latest album, Voyages, Istanbul Chapter, released in 2021.

Together, Ganiyev and Esen will give a spectacular recital featuring Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata No. 1., Claude Debussy’s Violin Sonata in Gminor and Carmen Fantasie by Franz Waxman, the soundtrack for the 1946 movie Humoresque.

Absolute Music puts the spotlight on the violin, a versatile instrument which is a mainstay of classical music.

To further enrich the experience for audiences, the concert will be preceded by a book presentation of The Violin Revealed: The History, Techniques, and Secrets of Italian Violin Making from Stradivari to Today edited by Stefano Trabucchi, luthier, and journalist Roberto Messina.

Attendees can explore the history of Italian violin making and delve deeper into the intricacies and secrets around this captivating instrument.

On the morning of the performance, both Esen and Ganiyev will give an exclusive masterclass to the Muscat Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, sharing their experience and technique withviolin students.

Absolute Music is an evening concert series that takes place on selected Mondays throughout the season. Admission is free for both theconcert and book presentation. Through this unique series, the opera house strives to make world-class classical music accessible to a broad audience and inspire a new generation of musicians in Oman and beyond.
