Doha: The Sultanate’s pavilion, the guest of honour in 33rd Edition of Doha International Book Fair, which continues until 18 May, has seen a big number of visitors to acquaint with rare manuscripts and publications, which reflect the rich cultural achievements of the Sultanate of Oman during the past decades.
Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatari Minister of Culture and Imad Al Din Hamdan, Palestinian Minister of Culture have toured the various sections of the Sultanate’s pavilion and acquainted with the key manuscripts at the pavilion.
The Oman pavilion at the Doha International Book Fair continues to showcase rare manuscripts, literary works, and cultural treasures, earning admiration for Oman’s rich literary heritage.
The publications and titles of books displayed by several printing presses taking parts in the pavilion included the publications on the history of the Peninsula, poetry, arts, research and politics among other fields.
Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Rahbi, representative of the Omani Society for Writers and Literati, said that the participation in the event is the first for the Omani Society for Writers and Literati. The visitors of the Sultanate’s pavilion are looking for the publications on history and literary studies in general.
Regarding the participation of the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra in Doha International Book Fair, Lt Colonel Fahd bin Said al Farsi said that the musical pieces played by the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra reflect the Sultanate’s musical and cultural heritage and the young gifted personnel who excel in playing musical instruments.
A workshop was organised on Saturday and aimed to acquaint the children with awareness related to environment and preservation of the environment among other aspects.
