Muscat: Temperature may reach 50 degree Celsius from Monday, July 1, 2024 and for the next 48 hours in the Sultanate of Oman.
Oman Meteorology said in a statement :"There are expectations of a noticeable rise in temperatures today, through Wednesday, July 1-3, 2024, ranging from the end of the forties to the fifties, especially in the desert areas and some coastal areas of the Sea of Oman."
Sunstroke, heat exhaustion, and other symptoms associated with high temperatures are common, especially since many jobs and field activities require workers to be exposed to sunlight and high temperatures.
To reduce and avoid sunstroke, the following is recommended:
1. Organising and specifying working hours so that they include rest periods when temperatures reach their peak
2. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, especially during the afternoon
3. Drink good amounts of water to avoid dehydration.
4. It is preferable to train workers and supervisors on how to react to high temperature episodes.
