Electricity generation in Oman rises by 1.4%

Electricity generation in Oman rises by 1.4%

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s total generation of electricity till the end of April 2024 increased by 1.4 percent, reaching 11,196 GW/h, compared to 11,036.5 GW/h in the same period of 2023, showed the statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The statistics also showed that the governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and A’Dhahirah recorded total electricity generation  reaching 6,790.2 GW/h. Meanwhile, the governorates of North A’Sharqiyah and South A’Sharqiyah recorded electricity generation reaching 2,586.9 GW/h till the end of April 2024.

The electricity generation in the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah rose by 13.8 percent whereas it fell by 0.9 percent in the Governorate of Muscat, reaching 36.6 GW/h.

In the Governorate of Dhofar, electricity generation rose by 19 percent reaching 1,618.8 GW/h. Meanwhile, the total electricity generation in the Governorate of Al Wusta decreased by 41.8 percent, reaching 44 GW/h.

The statistics also showed that the Sultanate of Oman’s net electricity generation until the end of April 2024 increased by 1.3 percent to reach 10,825.7 GW/h.

The net electricity generation  in the Governorate of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and A’Dhahirah fell by 2.7 percent, reaching 6,562.9 GW/h, and those of Al Dakhiliyah rose by 13.8 percent to reach 9.6 GW/h.

In the governorates of North A’Sharqiyah and South A’Sharqiyah, the electricity generation increased by 4.1 percent, reaching 2,526.8 GW/h, and those in the Governorate of Muscat fell by 1.1 percent, reaching 36.4 GW/h. In the Governorate of Dhofar, it increased by 18.5 percent, reaching 1,540.2 GW/h till the end of April 2024.

The statistics showed that the net electricity generation in the Governorate of Al Wusta decreased by 41.8 percent, recording 43.3 GW/h.

Water production
In terms of water production, the NCSI statistics showed that the total quantity of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman fell by 0.9 percent, reaching 163,333,700 cubic metres by the end of April 2024.
