Members of Omani family die in road accident in Egypt

Muscat: Members of an Omani family died while on the road near Sharm El-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt, as a result of an accident. A 10-year-old child survived the accident.

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo extended its sincere condolences and sympathies to the next of kin on the death of an Omani family travelling by road near Sharm El-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

“Immediately after the Embassy received news of the accident from the Egyptian security authorities, a team of Embassy members was assigned to move to the scene of the accident, which is 380 kilometres away from Cairo, to arrange the transportation of the bodies and follow up on the child’s condition. The child was transferred in the early hours of this morning to Cairo under the supervision of diplomat Mahfuza Al-Ghazili," a statement said.

The child's transfer to Oman will be arranged after ensuring his ability to travel based on doctors’ permission. The child will be accompanied by a member of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, the statement further said.
