Transport ministry celebrates conclusion of training programme on AI, digital skills

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology today celebrated the passing out of the last batch of trainees who attended a programme codenamed “Successful” (Najih). The ceremony took place at the premises of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in Muscat.

The programme benefited 24 trainees, of whom 14 were specialised in “Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning”, while 10 trainees were in “Systems Engineering and Development”.

During the ceremony, a presentation was made about the "AI cardiac magnetic resonance imaging project", which was submitted by the last batch and implemented at the Royal Hospital.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, a workshop was held about the outcomes of the “National Initiative for Digital Skills Qualification” (Makeen). The workshop included a visual presentation about the initiative, which seeks to familiarize Omani youth about future digital skills that are most in demand in the market.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the OCCI.

Al Rawas said that the initiative (Makeen) would provide departments of the national economy with necessary digital skills to help meet the requirements of comprehensive development in the Sultanate of Oman.

It is worth noting that the training programme was implemented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in cooperation with Axeed Company for a period of 6 months. It focused on AI, machine learning, engineering and system development.

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, business owners and representatives of companies.
