Oman-Iran foreign ministers call for efforts to ease tension in region

Muscat: Dr. Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has said that relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran are based on friendship, mutual respect and joint cooperation about various issues of common concern.

During the meeting, the two ministers stressed the depth of the countries relations of neighbourliness, the depth of their historical and cultural ties and steady growth of economic interests that unite them.

The two sides discussed current issues and challenges in the region, notably the escalation resulting from the continued Israeli aggression on Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, in addition to Israel’s refusal to withdraw from the occupied Palestinian territories and its defiance of UN resolutions and international law.

The two sides also voiced their commitment to boost bilateral and consolidate collective partnership with a view to developing cooperation in a manner that sustains security, stability and growth for the whole region.
