Muscat: In cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the General Secretariat of the Tender Board announced the award of seven vital projects worth more than OMR119 million.
These project include the building of five bridges on the dual road (Sohar-Al Buraimi), the project to implement the dual road (Izki-Nizwa), the project to complete the implementation of the road (Al-Ubaila-Al-Fayyadh), the project to establish the dual road (Raysut-Al-Maghsail), the project to improve the efficiency of the Saih Qatna road, the project to design and implement the Aqbat Afari road and Al-Saqari road, and the project to establish the Saih Al-Khairat / Al-Shasr road.
These projects come within the implementation of the plans of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology aimed at upgrading the road network system in the Sultanate and improving its quality to ensure high traffic safety; in addition to its role in stimulating tourism, commercial and social movement in various governorates.
Five bridges
The Ministry has awarded the project (construction of five bridges on the Sohar-Buraimi dual carriageway. At a total cost of OMR 6 million, the project includes the reconstruction of (5) bridges on the existing Sohar-Buraimi road with the aim of ensuring the safety of road users and maintaining the efficiency of the road network to serve the economic movement in the region.
The project also includes the addition of iron and concrete protections and ground paints according to the specifications of the Omani Road Design Guide 2017. The project implementation period is 18 months in addition to 45 days for preparations.
Izki-Nizwa dual carriageway project
As part of the Ministry’s efforts to raise the quality of roads, support tourism, reduce traffic congestion and improve the flow of traffic on main roads, the Izki-Nizwa dual carriageway project has been awarded at a total cost of 46.8 million Omani riyals with a length of 32 kilometres.
The project starts from the southern Qarout roundabout in the Wilayat of Izki, passing through Birkat Al-Mouz, and ends at the Lulu roundabout in the Farq area in the Wilayat of Nizwa.
The project also includes the installation of a traffic light to ensure smooth traffic movement and reduce congestion Expected, and the establishment of 10 roundabouts in various project sites that will facilitate the movement of road users on both sides of the track, in addition to a number of pedestrian and car tunnels in commercial and crowded areas.
Al-Ubaila-Al-Fayyadh project
The Ministry also assigned the completion of the construction project of the Al-Ubaila-Al-Fayyadh Road in Al-Buraimi Governorate; It includes completing the remaining works on the Al-Ubaila -Al-Fayyadh Road, which is about 40 km long, starting from the main road of Sohar-Al-Buraimi to Al-Fayyadh in Al-Buraimi Governorate, at a total cost of OMR19.4 million and its implementation period is 24 months in addition to 30 days for preparations.
The road consists of two lanes with a width of (3.65) metres for each lane, asphalt shoulders with a width of (2.5 metres) on each side, dirt shoulders with a width of (one metre) on each side, box culverts and two bridges to ensure the continuity of traffic movement in all weather conditions.
The road was designed according to the standard specifications approved in the Road Design Manual 2017, ensuring traffic safety requirements of concrete and metal barriers, guidance signs, ground and warning paints.
This road is intended to contribute to facilitating traffic, strengthening social ties, and stimulating economic and tourism activity.
Raysut-Al Mughsail road
To improve the connection between tourist sites in Dhofar Governorate, the Ministry has awarded the Raysut-Al Mughsail Road dualisation project in Dhofar Governorate at a total cost of OMR34.8 million for a period of 30 months and a length of 33 kilometres.
The project includes the construction of 6 main facilities including bridges, overpasses and underpasses, in addition to animal crossings. The project will also include the implementation of all necessary protections for the road to ensure the safety and security of its users.
Saih Qatna project
The Ministry has awarded the completion works of the Saih Qatna project in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar at a total cost of OMR4.5 million. The project includes upgrading the current road with a length of 9.200 km starting from the main road in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, passing through a mountainous terrain series to the Riyadh farm.
The road consists of two lanes with a width of 3.5 metres for each lane, asphalt shoulders with a width of (1.5 metres) on each side, and cement shoulders with a width of (one metre) on each side. This road will be constructed according to the standard specifications approved.
