Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has issued a strong condemnation in response to an airstrike launched by Israel on Iranian territory earlier today. The Foreign Ministry described the attack as a "flagrant violation" of Iran's sovereignty and a clear breach of international law.
Oman's Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the escalation, warning that such actions fuel the cycle of violence and undermine ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and resolve conflicts through diplomatic means. "These practices by Israel pose a severe risk, dragging the region towards further instability and unrest," the ministry stated.
In a renewed call to the international community, Oman urged swift and effective action to halt what it termed "blatant violations" by Israel, emphasising the importance of safeguarding peace and security across the region.
The statement also highlighted the need to address the root causes of regional crises, calling for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories. Oman reiterated its support for a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, as outlined by United Nations and Security Council resolutions, and called for Palestinian self-determination within an independent state, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative.
