National Day Holidays: What are your plans?

Muscat: With Sunday’s announcement of Oman’s National Day holidays, which will begin on November 20, citizens and residents are eagerly making travel arrangements, spurring a notable 20 percent increase in bookings since Sunday morning, according to local tour agencies and hotel operators.

Under Royal orders from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Wednesday and Thursday, November 20-21, 2024, have been declared official holidays for public and private sector employees to commemorate the 54th National Day. While some employees may be required to work on these days, they will be duly compensated as per the Ministry of Labour.

Whether opting for domestic getaways or international escapes, citizens and residents are planning for the extended break.

“For the upcoming Oman National holidays, we’re celebrating family time with curated experiences for every member,” said Jagdeep Thakral, General Manager of dusitD2 Naseem Resort Jabal Akhdar.

“Families can enjoy free unlimited access to our adventure park, participate in pool games, and enjoy the mini cinema. In addition, we have Bedouin-style tent dining featuring live Arabic music and fresh Shuwa, all designed to create unforgettable moments together. Book it or miss it!”

Thakral added: “Long weekends bring a fantastic opportunity for us in the hospitality industry.”

“We see a surge in bookings, especially for families looking for unique staycations within Oman. This holiday will likely boost
domestic tourism as people explore new parts of the country and enjoy the exceptional weather.”

The experienced hotelier said: “Our goal at dusitD2 Naseem Resort is to help guests discover Oman’s hidden gems, with experiences that reflect the beauty and culture of this unique country.”

Also in Al Jabal Al Akhdar, Sahab Resort and Spa has rolled out special room rates starting from OMR70, inclusive of breakfast and taxes.
Al Nahda Resort & Spa in Barka is also extending a holiday package starting at OMR45, while Dunes by Al Nahda offers a taste of the
Arabian sands with a special price staring from OMR100 for dune-bashing adventures.

Arup Singh Deo, Director of Operations and Projects at Al Nahda Hotels & Resorts, emphasised the benefit of domestic tourism. “Long weekends in Oman are always a blessing for the hotels as they boost family domestic tourism. We have already witnessed a notable 20 percent increase in bookings since Sunday morning,” said Deo.

“Our hotels remain fully occupied during all long weekends. Although travel abroad has increased, staycations have also grown because there are still some hassles such as increased airfares and additional documentation requirements when traveling abroad with the family.”
Deo emphasised the appeal of local tourism, highlighting Oman’s wide-ranging options for visitors. “There are plenty of possibilities for families, groups, and individuals to explore Oman. Driven by good weather and multiple entertainment options, hotels and resorts offer a wide range of staycations and activities. And that is why Oman remains a top choice for its citizens and residents.”

In Oman, the appeal of exploring rich landscapes - from mountains to coasts - is irresistible for holidaymakers, and hospitality providers are eager to showcase the country’s offerings.

In addition to these local hotspots, many are choosing trips to nearby destinations like Georgia, Armenia, and the Maldives. These locations offer escapes for families and professionals seeking fresh experiences without extended travel time.
