Winner of UNESCO Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Education for 2024 announced

Muscat: The Namib Desert Environmental Education Fund from Namibia has been awarded the prestigious UNESCO Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Conservation 2024. The award ceremony took place in Budapest, Hungary, and was presented by Her Excellency the Minister of Education, Chairperson of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, on behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

This marks the 17th edition of the award, and the Namib Desert Environmental Education Fund was recognized for its outstanding contributions to non-profit environmental education. Since its inception, the Fund has successfully reached over 160,000 students from diverse educational backgrounds and civil society groups.
