Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,517.21 points, down by 0.35% from previous close. The Shariah Index ended down by 0.39% at 412.03 points. Majan Glass, up 25.00%, was the top gainer while, Raysut Cement, down 6.54%, was the top loser. Shares of OQEP were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 1523 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR5.03 million, with more than 21.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 56 traded securities, 11 advanced, 23 declined, and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR1,484,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR1,441,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR43,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,589.73 points, down 0.39%. Prices of Al Omaniya Financial Services, and Dhofar Insurance were up by 3.03%, and 2.00% respectively. Prices of Global Financial Investments, Muscat Finance, United Finance, Oman & Emirates Investment, and OMINVEST were down by 2.44%, 2.33%, 1.82%, 1.47%, and 0.89% respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5,176.40 points, down 0.6%. Prices of Majan Glass, Salalah Mills, and A’Saffa Foods were up by 25.00%, 9.85%, and 0.53% respectively. Prices of Raysut Cement, Gulf Mushroom Products, Galfar Engineering, Oman Cables Industry, and Oman Cement were down by 6.54%, 5.09%, 2.22%, 2.00%, and 0.80% respectively.
Services Index was down by 0.52% before closing at 1,725.91 points. Prices of Gulf Hotels, Phoenix Power, and Al Suwadi Power were up by 9.94%, 1.72%, and 1.54% respectively. Prices of Majan College, Sembcorp Salalah, SMN Power Holding, Oman National Engineering, and Muscat Desalination were down by 4.35%, 3.13%, 2.58%, 1.72%, and 1.52% respectively.
