Board of Trustees of National Museum hold its 13th meeting

Muscat: The Board of Trustees of the National Museum on Thursday held its 13th meeting at the Museum’s headquarters.

The meeting focused on reviewing recent developments in the Museum’s activities, as well as discussing future development plans aimed at enhancing the Museum’s role as a leading cultural tourism destination in the Sultanate of Oman, thereby contributing to a qualitative leap in this vital sector.

The meeting was chaired by Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum.

Key topics discussed during the meeting included the approval of the National Museum’s annual report for the year 2024, and deliberations on establishing a branch of the State Hermitage Museum in the Governorate of Dhofar, in addition to a project aimed at reviving the traditional Omani male attire—an initiative that seeks to strengthen Omani identity.

As part of the National Museum’s efforts to promote cultural tourism and advance digital transformation, the meeting also addressed the development of an interactive mobile application that showcases the cultural tourism potential of the Sultanate of Oman in the Russian language. The application aims to introduce Russian-speaking audiences to Oman’s rich history, heritage, and cultural treasures, thereby attracting more Russian tourists to the country.
