Sofia: President Rumen Radev of the Republic of Bulgaria awarded the Badge of Honour of the President to Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, during an official ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Sofia on Friday.
This medal is one of the highest awards granted by the President of the Republic. It is awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions to upholding values and strengthening relationships, and in recognition of individuals' achievements and positive impact on society.
In a speech delivered on this occasion, the Bulgarian President expressed the Bulgarian people's deep appreciation and respect for the humanitarian efforts undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman, which resulted in the safe return of the Bulgarian crew of the Galaxy Leader ship.
He praised the noble stances that reflect the Sultanate's authentic values in supporting peace and human solidarity, and the pioneering role it plays under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. He stressed for strong friendly relations uniting the two countries.
For his part, Sayyid Badr, expressed thanks for this honour, noting that the medal embodies the common universal values that unite the peoples of the world. He emphasised that, "In a world rife with turmoil, the values that unite us are of utmost importance. They are precious valuesfor all of humanity, transcending religious or ethnic identities, and reflecting our common humanity."
He also expressed his happiness at being in the friendly Republic of Bulgaria, conveying the greetings of the Sultanate of Oman, its government and people, and its sincere wishes to the Bulgarian people for further progress and prosperity.
