Muscat: Captain Ahmed Ali Al Badi, Head of the National Hydrographic Office at the Royal Navy of Oman, has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Alexander Dalrymple Prize by the United Kingdom's Hydrographic Office (UKHO). The honor recognizes his outstanding contributions to advancing hydrographic science and maritime navigation at regional and international levels.
The award was presented during an official ceremony at the UK Hydrographic Office headquarters in Taunton. This international accolade underscores Oman's pioneering role in hydrography, demonstrated through its exceptional efforts in enhancing maritime safety, updating navigational charts and information, and active participation in international cooperation under the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
Established in 2006, the Alexander Dalrymple Prize ranks among the world's most distinguished hydrographic honors. Awarded annually to pioneering figures, it recognizes individuals or institutions that have made significant advancements in hydrography (nautical charting), navigation, and maritime geography worldwide.
