The Mumbai Police has said that it received a threat message on its traffic police helpline, which was sent by a group calling itself 'Lashkar-e-Jihadi'.
The message claimed that 34 "human bombs" carrying 400 kg of RDX have been planted in 34 vehicles across the city, with the intent to cause a blast that would "shake the entire city."
Security has been significantly tightened across Mumbai.
The police have urged the public to remain calm, avoid spreading rumors, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
The threat was received on the eve of a major festival in the city, which has prompted heightened security to ensure the safety of the large number of devotees expected to gather for Ganesh idol immersions.
