Montreal, Canada – The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, represented by Invest Oman, participated in the 42nd General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), hosted in Montreal, the organization’s headquarters. ICAO, a specialized United Nations agency, plays a pivotal role in establishing global standards and policies for the safety, security, and efficiency of civil aviation. Oman’s participation was conducted in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Oman Police, the Royal Air Force of Oman, Oman Airports, and Salam Air.
Oman’s participation goes beyond the civil aviation sector, serving as a strategic platform to showcase the Sultanate’s investment potential and link it with promising economic opportunities, reinforcing Oman’s position as a regional and global trade and investment hub.
On the sidelines of the assembly, Invest Oman organized the Business Dialogue Advantage Oman–Canada, which brought together leading investors and executives from major Canadian companies. The discussions focused on priority sectors for both countries, including mining, manufacturing, and renewable energy, aiming to highlight Oman’s promising investment opportunities and strengthen bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
The dialogue provided an effective platform for direct engagement between the Omani and Canadian business communities, opening new avenues for partnerships and expanding joint investment opportunities. The Omani delegation also delivered a comprehensive presentation on Oman’s competitive advantages, including its strategic geographic location, long-term stability, ongoing mega projects, and a range of incentives and facilitation measures that enhance the business environment and increase its attractiveness to investors.
Commenting on the event, Mohammed bin Ali Al Lawati, Director of Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said: “Organizing this dialogue reflects Oman’s strong commitment to deepening economic cooperation with Canada. It provides a unique opportunity for direct engagement with the Canadian business community, leveraging the strength of the globally influential Canadian market, and highlights the promising investment opportunities that make Oman a distinctive investment destination, supported by a dynamic business environment, government incentives, and strategic projects that open broad horizons for sustainable growth.”
The Business Dialogue Advantage Oman is part of a series of international initiatives led by the Sultanate of Oman through Invest Oman and the Ministry, aimed at reinforcing Oman’s position as a regional investment hub and opening new horizons for strategic economic partnerships with global markets. Canada, in particular, emerges as a key strategic partner and an ideal opportunity to deepen collaboration across vital sectors and stimulate high-value investments.
