Khasab: The Department of Heritage and Tourism in Musandam Governorate is preparing to welcome the tourist season through a series of measures and plans aimed at ensuring a distinguished tourism experience for visitors and enhancing the governorate's status as a prominent tourist destination.
Nawfal Mohammed Al Kamzari, Assistant Director of the Department of Heritage and Tourism in Musandam Governorate, stated that the most prominent preparations include intensifying field inspection campaigns on tourism companies, establishments, and hotels to verify their compliance with approved requirements and standards and the quality of services provided to tourists.
He added that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is working to enhance participation in promotional efforts for the "Musandam Winter" event organized by the Musandam Governor's Office.
He explained to Oman News Agency (ONA) that, in preparation for receiving cruise ships, the temporary tourist information center at Khasab Port has been activated to welcome cruise ship visitors and provide them with necessary information, guide maps, and services that reflect the bright image of Omani tourism. Continuous coordination is also underway with various relevant authorities to hold joint meetings, ensuring integrated efforts and facilitating procedures related to tourism activities during the season.
He affirmed that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism continues its efforts to develop the tourism sector in the governorate by implementing a range of qualitative projects aimed at enhancing tourism infrastructure and attracting more tourism investments to the governorate.
He indicated that the Visitor Center project in the Wilayat of Diba is one of the most prominent projects under implementation, as it will contribute to providing integrated services to visitors and introducing them to the natural, heritage, and tourism attractions of the wilayat. Work is also ongoing on the Ras Amoud tourist resort project in Khawr Hablein, which will form a unique destination for accommodation and relaxation within a stunning natural environment.
He added that in the Wilayat of Bukha, a new tourist hotel project is being implemented, aiming to increase hotel capacity and meet the growing demand for accommodation services in the wilayat. Recently, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Khasab Development and Investment Company "Sandan" to establish the integrated tourism complex "Pearl of Khasab," which is expected to be a qualitative addition to the tourism landscape in the governorate.
Nawfal Al Kamzari clarified that the number of tourist ships visiting Musandam Governorate in 2024 reached 45 carrying 58,267 tourists, while the number of visitors to forts and castles reached approximately 17,413 visitors.
