
Muscat: The election for the Board of Directors of Bangladesh School Muscat (BSM) was held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 9am to 5pm at the BSM Multipurpose Hall.
The election was conducted smoothly through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accuracy.
In full compliance with official guidelines.
Rafiul Islam, Labour Counsellor of the Bangladesh Embassy in Oman and Head of the Election Conducting Committee, announced the results immediately after the completion of voting. Representatives from the Ministry of Education, Oman, were also present to supervise and monitor the entire election process, ensuring that all procedures were conducted in full compliance with official guidelines.
A total of 709 parents votes were cast out of 942 registered parent voters, reflecting a high level of participation from the Bangladeshi community.
Five candidates were elected as members of the Board of Directors: Md. Ismail Hossain (166 votes), Monsur Ahammad (128 votes), Mohammad Iqbal (121 votes), Jamal Uddin — 88 votes and Md. Rashidul Haque (75 votes).
Two other candidates Muhammad Riajul Islam Chowdhary received 73 votes and Md. Humyun Kabir received 58 votes.
Subsequently, Mohammad Iqbal was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh School Muscat by elected parents.
Sirajul Hoque, CIP, Chairman of the Bangladesh Social Club, extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the newly elected Chairman and members of the Board of Directors.
Iftakher Chowdhury, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Schools, also conveyed his warm greetings and expressed confidence that the new Board will continue to work dedicatedly for the advancement and betterment of the institution.
The Bangladesh School Muscat community expressed optimism that the new leadership will strengthen the school’s commitment to providing quality education, enhance student development, and uphold the values of excellence, inclusivity, and unity among the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Oman.
