Omani Research and Studies Centre opened in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur: A celebration was held on Monday in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, for the launch of the Omani Research and Studies Centre at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), to serve as a research platform that introduces Oman’s history and civilisation.

The Centre aims to introduce Oman’s civilisation and achievements, focus on Omani studies, disseminate awareness of their value, and direct the attention of researchers, academics, and specialists toward preparing studies and research related to them.

 It also seeks to contribute to documenting scientific cooperation and enhancing cultural, academic, and research communication between the Sultanate of Oman and Malaysia.

Ahmed Saud Al Siyabi, Secretary General of the Office of the Grand Mufti, emphasised in the opening speech the importance of the Omani Research and Studies Centre in strengthening Omani-Malaysian relations and the cultural role it will undertake through diverse programmes and events.

For her part, Dr. Rahmah Ahmad Othman, Director of the Omani Research and Studies Centre in Malaysia, said that this cultural and educational forum embodies the result of cooperation between the Office of the Grand Mufti at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman and the International Islamic University Malaysia, reflecting the Omani and Malaysian efforts to establish this diverse gathering that combines thought, culture, creativity, and scientific research.

She added that this forum includes events such as the Omani Cultural Exhibition and the Ninth International Conference on the Role of Oman in Promoting Ethics: Theory and Practice, as a shared symbol of our commitment to ethical, cognitive, and cultural leadership.

The launch ceremony was accompanied by the opening of the Ninth International Conference titled “The Omani Role in Promoting Ethics: Theory and Practice” through four main themes divided into ten consecutive sessions over three days.

The first theme focuses on the question of ethics between theory and practice, while the second theme discusses practical ethics, the third theme reviews theoretical ethics, and the fourth theme addresses contemporary efforts in promoting ethics.

 The forum is also accompanied by several diverse exhibitions, including the Omani Students Association Exhibition in Malaysia and the Oman Exhibition “Identity and Civilisation,” which highlights the civilisational depth and the roots of balanced Omani values derived from the Islamic religion.
