
Muscat: The total credit granted by the banking sector in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 8 percent at the end of September 2025, reaching OMR34.5 billion.
Data released by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) showed that credit granted to the private sector grew by 5.7 percent to reach OMR28.2 billion by the end of September 2025.
The data regarding the distribution across different sectors indicated that the non-financial corporate sector had the largest share at 46.7 percent, followed by the individuals sector at 44.7 percent, while the remaining percentage was distributed between the financial corporate sector at 5.8 percent and other sectors at 2.8 percent.
Total deposits in the banking sector grew by 4.7 percent to reach OMR33.1 billion by the end of September 2025. Within this total, private sector deposits in the banking system increased by 7.5 percent to reach OMR22.3 billion by the end of September 2025.
Regarding the distribution of the total private sector deposit base across different sectors, the figures indicate that the personal sector holds the largest share, amounting to about 50 percent, followed by the non-financial corporate sector and the financial corporate sector with shares of 30.5 percent and 17.3 percent respectively, while the remaining 2.2 percent was distributed among other sectors.
