Latest integrated automated radio-pharmaceutical injector device inaugurated in Oman

Muscat: The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care & Research Centre at the University Medical City on Wednesday launched the latest integrated automated injector device globally for the preparation and injection of high-energy radio-pharmaceuticals.

This medical achievement embodies the rapid progress in the nuclear medicine system at the University Medical City, marking a qualitative step in developing advanced diagnostic and radiation therapy services.

The device is distinguished by its support for a wide range of radioisotopes used in patient diagnosis and treatment, making it the most diverse and efficient device in its class. It also features ease of use, accurate preparation and injection, while ensuring the highest levels of safety and radiation protection, thanks to its smart protection systems.

The advantages of the device translate into increased performance efficiency and enhanced workflow within the Radio-pharmacy Unit, due to the automation of preparation and injection processes. The device also provides advanced capabilities for remote procedure management via the automated control screen or website, allowing control and monitoring of all operations performed by the device in a radiation-protected work environment, and significantly reducing the opportunities for radiation exposure for workers.

This launch comes within the University Medical City's vision to develop the national healthcare system, by localizing advanced medical technologies that enhance sustainability and the quality of services provided to the community. It also solidifies its position as a leading academic, therapeutic, and research center that actively contributes to achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040 towards an innovative and knowledge-based health sector.
