Muscat: Oman returned to work on Sunday after a four-day National Day weekend that saw brisk business for hotels, resorts and travel agencies across the Sultanate.

Residents enjoyed an extended break after Wednesday, November 26, and Thursday, November 27 were declared official holidays, prompting many to opt for staycations or short domestic getaways.

Hotels across the country reported a significant rise in occupancy, with many properties fully booked over the weekend. Endorsing the trend, Jagdeep Thakral, General Manager of dusitD2 Naseem Resort Jabal Akhdar, said the property witnessed an extraordinary surge in visitors.

“We had an exceptional weekend. From Wednesday to Saturday we saw an uplift, with Thursday and Friday being packed. We witnessed a 100 per cent surge compared to our regular weekends this time,” he told Times of Oman.

Dusit International, one of Thailand’s leading hospitality groups, operates the dusitD2 Naseem Resort in Jabal Akhdar, home to one of Oman’s most unique adventure parks.

Restaurants in the capital also saw strong turnout. Aizat Duishekeeva, Head of Jungle Restaurant Complex and Bahja Hall in Qurum, highlighted the success of the outlet’s newly revamped menu. “The Jungle Restaurant has been around, but our menu hasn’t,” she said.

“We have introduced a brand-new menu that takes guests on a culinary journey from the tops of the mountains to the bottom of the seas, with delicious, crisp and fresh recipes.”

Many hotels also offered curated overnight desert packages, giving travellers the chance to experience Oman’s landscapes in luxury.

Meanwhile, some residents chose to travel abroad during the break. Travel agents reported high demand for short-haul holiday packages, with Dubai, Azerbaijan and Georgia emerging as the most popular destinations.
