
Muscat: Oman’s national golf team under-13 celebrated a triumphant finish at the GCC Golf Championship for Girls and Age Categories (U13 and U16), securing both gold and silver medals on home soil at the Ghala Golf Club in Muscat.
The championship, hosted by the Oman Golf Association, concluded under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Fahr bin Fatik Al Said.
Omani golfer Youssef Al-Rumhi claimed the gold medal in the U13 individual category, outperforming Bahrain’s Mohamed Waheed, who took silver, and fellow Bahraini Khalifa Al-Fadhala, who earned bronze.
In the U13 team event, Oman’s trio Youssef Al-Rumhi, Taimur Al-Busaidi, and Ibrahim Faiz Riyadh—secured the silver medal, finishing behind Bahrain, who took gold. The UAE team rounded out the podium with bronze.
In the U16 boys’ division, Qatar’s Daniel Sokolov won gold, followed by Bahrain’s Khalid Sadiq with silver and the UAE’s Abdullah Darwish with bronze. Qatar also topped the U16 team standings, with Bahrain and the UAE taking silver and bronze respectively.
The women’s category was dominated by the UAE, with Jamie Camero winning gold, Safiya Al-Balushi silver, and Lara Al-Shayeb bronze. The UAE women’s team also secured gold in the team event, while Saudi Arabia and Bahrain earned silver and bronze respectively.
The championship highlighted the growing talent pool in Gulf youth golf and underscored Oman’s rising presence in the regional golf scene.
