The calendar includes 21 competitions across 12 diverse sports, with the participation of over 20,000 male and female students from 30 educational institutions across various governorates.
At the outset of the conference, the committee presented a detailed overview of the events. Activities will be launched this month with the Padel Championship, which attracts a wide segment of students.
The calendar continues in February with events including the E-Sports Championship, Beach Volleyball Championship, Girls’ Bowling Championship, and the KoraThon event, which starts in February and continues until March in partnership with Oman Logistics Academy.
These are qualitative events alongside the E-Sports Championship, which has become one of the most in-demand and participated-in championships among the students.
In March, the 3x3 Basketball Championship will be held, which has become one of the season’s most prominent championships due to its high turnout and the competitive environment it provides, allowing students to showcase their skills in fast-paced, collective basketball.
April, which will be packed with numerous championships, will witness one of the year’s most important sporting milestones with the holding of the Swimming and Athletics Championships, in addition to the Girls’ Individual Games Tournament.
This tournament brings together a number of dynamic sports in an interactive athletic environment aimed at enhancing student participation in open sports.
Competitions will continue through May and the rest of the year with events including volleyball, football, basketball, table tennis, shooting, chess, challenge competitions, and other activities that provide a comprehensive season of athletic movement within higher education institutions.
The season concludes in December with the Handball Championship, one of the championships witnessing notable development in participation levels, with universities competing to achieve advanced results.
Introduction of new games
In the context of expanding the introduction of new games aligned with youth aspirations, the committee announced the inclusion of the Shooting Championship in October for the first time in the 2026 calendar.
This step reflects its keenness to diversify individual sports and provide students the opportunity to engage in athletic experiences focusing on precision, concentration, and mental and physical skills.
The committee clarified that this championship will be organised according to approved technical standards and in cooperation with specialised entities to ensure a safe environment meeting the requirements of this type of competition, thereby providing a broad scope for discovering new talents in a sport gaining increasing prominence among youth segments.
The calendar also highlights the addition of a number of qualitative activities targeting specific groups.
These include a sports tournament for girls, aiming to provide a safe and motivating competitive space for female students, in addition to programmes dedicated to youth seeking to hone their skills in sports, teamwork, and physical commitment.
