
Muscat: More than 130,000 enterprises registered in the register of the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development until the end of December 2025.
During its annual media meeting in Muscat, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority reviewed the supportive policies, enabling programs for enterprises, relevant indicators, and the features of its 2026 plan.
Her Excellency Halima Rashid Al Zari'ee, Chairperson of the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development said :" The Authority has completed the implementation of the strategy for the small and medium enterprises sector, which achieved good results, as the sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product reached about 21 percent by the end of 2024."
The Authority’s annual plan for this year includes more than 700 initiatives and training programs distributed across 8 axes, including promoting a culture of entrepreneurship, upgrading institutions and accelerating their regional and global expansion, maximizing local content, access to funding, expanding incubators, developing governorates and taking advantage of their comparative advantage.
The Authority said that the number of small and medium enterprises registered in the Authority’s register until the end of December 2025 reached approximately 130,359 enterprises.
"The number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) holding the Entrepreneurship Card in the second half of 2025 reached 58,388, of which 25,986 were active cards, representing a national workforce of approximately 192,714 employees.
The Authority also reported issuing 395 land usufruct approvals to SME owners by the end of December 2025, and offering 877 land usufruct plans through the "Tatweer" platform.
Furthermore, the Authority noted that the number of small enterprises transitioning to medium-sized enterprises increased to 294 during the past year, while the number of medium-sized enterprises transitioning to large enterprises reached 41.
The Authority stated that the total value of contracts announced at the first edition of the "Growth Forum" exceeded OMR 44 million , and that 340 bilateral meetings were organized, enabling entrepreneurs to discuss their projects.
Last year, the Authority participated in 413 local and international events, benefiting 23,794 institutions, and 608 institutions benefited from e-marketing services.
"The number of products displayed on the dedicated online platform of the Craft House outlet has reached 1,744, a step that contributes to enhancing artisans' access to digital markets and supporting the sustainability of craft projects."
Since its inception, the Authority has launched 30 general and specialized business incubators, supporting 137 enterprises and providing 231 job opportunities for Omani youth in various economic activities, with revenues exceeding OMR 3 million .
The number of applications approved for funding from the "Al-Azm" loan portfolio by the end of December 2025 reached 514, with a total value exceeding OMR 44 million .
The authority also reported that the number of innovation-based startups by the end of 2025 reached 205, employing 825 people and with a market capitalization of OMR 395 million .
