HM the Sultan convenes telephone calls with GCC leaders

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik convened telephone calls this evening, with each of the following: Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait; Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates; Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar; King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During these communications, His Majesty enquired after the welfare of these nations and their peoples, while articulating the Sultanate of Oman's condemnation and censure of the military escalation and the grave dangers it embodies, in view of the perilous developments arising from the Israeli and US strikes upon the Islamic Republic of Iran, and warning of the ramifications of this upon the region's security and stability.

His Majesty underscored the imperative of respecting the sovereignty of states and the inviolability of their territories, exercising restraint, effecting an immediate cessation of escalatory actions, and reverting to the avenues of dialogue and diplomacy, so as to preserve the security and stability of the region and safeguard its peoples.

For their part, the GCC leaders conveyed their profound appreciation for the balanced and sagacious approach pursued by the Sultanate of Oman, under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan, in advancing peace, nurturing dialogue and reconciling perspectives among the various parties.
